W. L. Gore & Associates, makers of GORE-TEX, has been recognized since the 1970s for bringing durably waterproof, windproof, breathable materials to the world. But if you thought GORE-TEX and the hundreds of products made by W. L. Gore & Associates and their brand partners haven’t changed or advanced in that time, please think again.
Gore invests continually in high level R&D and, according to an in-depth article titled, “Inside the Elusive World of GORE-TEX” by Gear Patrol Magazine, is a hotbed of innovation.
The story, published this winter, describes how the company is run, how products are developed and takes a close look at the rigorous research, development and product testing processes that make Gore products among the most advanced and reliable in the world.
This includes Gore-certified factories, extensive testing in one of the company’s four environmental labs globally, and a few of the basics behind how GORE-TEX is made.
As the article says, GORE-TEX “might be ubiquitous, but Gore prides itself on being highly versatile as well,” and invites readers to take a peek behind the curtain.
