For over 50 years, W. L. Gore & Associates has provided the US Army and other branches of the US and Allied militaries with next-generation fabric technologies designed to support mission success. On Dec 15, 2017, a team from US Army Program Manager – Soldier Protection and Individual Equipment (PM-SPIE), led by Colonel Stephen Thomas, paid a site visit to Gore to learn more about Gore’s history supporting war fighters in the field as well as our latest technologies.
The PM-SPIE team looks for safe, durable, and operationally effective organizational clothing and individual equipment and provides soldiers with technologically-advanced tactical and environmental protective clothing and individual chemical protective gear.
The purpose of the visit was to provide the PM-SPIE team with an understanding of the next-generation products, technologies and capabilities engineered by Gore for military use. Col. Thomas was joined by Lieutenant Colonel Ginger Whitehead, assistant project manager for PM-SPIE; Master Sergeant Eric Buggeln, Senior Enlisted Advisor to PM-SPIE; and Ron Lee, the Public Information Officer for PM-SPIE.
The visit included a tour of Gore Headquarters and our new state-of-the-art environmental labs and rain room. In addition, Gore led a presentation that focused on both current innovations as well as our history supporting the US and allied militaries with fabric technologies engineered specifically for operational success in a vast array of climates and conditions.
According to Ladd Martel, the Gore Military Fabrics leader who hosted the visit, “The Colonel and his team commented that they were very impressed and had no idea that Gore was involved in so many different industries and applications. They were also impressed with the Gore team and [our] knowledge of the business and enthusiasm and engagement in their jobs.”
Lee took several photos, which are now posted on the PM-SPIE Facebook site. You can see them here https://www.facebook.com/ProgramManagerSPIE/
