NEW MUZZLE BRAKE PRODUCTS DELIVER OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE AND IMPROVED COMFORT IN HOT AND TROPICAL ENVIRONMENTS

Seattle, Washington, January 18, 2016Outdoor Research, in collaboration with W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. (Gore), has introduced the Muzzle Brake Blouse and Muzzle Brake Pants - a new uniform concept using GORE® Advanced Combat Fabric a high strength, durably fast drying, highly air permeable fabric that meets the no melt/no drip requirement of the Department of Defense. With more military personnel rotating through Pacific and hot climate regions, the innovative design of the two styles combined with the unique textile will assist with maintaining comfort, while offering optimal performance when exposed to the temperatures and humidity levels in these areas.

“The innovative GORE® Advanced Combat Fabric allowed us to create an advanced combat uniform that dries significantly faster compared to traditional nylon/cotton blend apparel, and retains its rapid drying properties, even after use in the field and subsequent laundering,” commented Ammi Borenstein, Director of Product at Outdoor Research.

Built using Hybrid Mapped Design, the Muzzle Brake Blouse provides optimal stretch, breathability and durability, where each property is needed most, ensuring comfort and protection from the elements in hot, humid, jungle operations. Woven, double-layer GORE® Advanced Combat Fabric that withstands rough terrain and abrasion, can be found on the elbows and forearms of the blouse, and on the knees and rear of the pants. Knit stretch panels at the wrists, underarms and yoke of the blouse, and crotch and back yolk of the pants permit dynamic movement.

GORE® Advanced Combat Fabric features a woven construction that blends a proprietary ePTFE fiber along with Nylon and Cotton fibers resulting in a lightweight fabric that offers soft hand and drape, while delivering optimum performance in temperate, hot, and tropical conditions.

“GORE® Advanced Combat Fabric is specifically designed for hot weather operations, while being suitable for temperate and tropical environments. The versatile construction offers the best combination of air permeability, fast dry time, strength-to-weight ratio, and no melt/no drip,” said Gore Product Specialist Tim Quinn. “This is certainly a very different fabric from any other product that Gore has made for the U.S. Military and tactical communities.”

GORE® Advanced Combat Fabric maintains the mechanical strength (tear, break) of traditional nylon/cotton material at a reduced weight, but offers a significant decrease in water pickup compared to the standard combat uniform/BDU. As a further benefit, it will not melt or drip in flash-fire incidents. GORE® Advanced Combat Fabric also includes nIR signature reduction, and it can be permethrin and antimicrobial treated, if desired.

The new Outdoor Research Muzzle Brake Blouse and Pant with GORE® Advanced Combat Fabric will be showcased at The 2016 SHOT Show, January 19-22, Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, both in the Outdoor Research booth #30406 and in the Gore booth #10370.

GORE HIGHLIGHTING EXPANDED PORTFOLIO OF FLAME RETARDANT MILITARY GARMENTS AT AUSA 2014

ELKTON, MD, OCTOBER 13, 2014 - - W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc., will be featuring its expanded line of flame-retardant (FR) military apparel at the 2014 AUSA Exposition in Washington, D.C., October 13-15, in Booth 2719. The portfolio includes: GORE® FR Lightweight Loft (LWL) Jacket; GORE-TEX® PYRAD® Hardshell Jacket; EWOL (Extreme Weather Outer Layer) Jacket; and an IWOL (Intermediate Weather Outer Layer) Jacket. All products meet or exceed industry standards for flammability and thermal protective performance. Standards include, where applicable: PYROMAN™ – ASTM F 1930; Thermal Protective Performance (TPP) – ISO 17492; Flammability – Folded Edge Flame Test Method – ASTM F 1358; and Vertical Flame Test Method – ASTM D 6413.

The GORE-TEX® PYRAD® Hardshell Jacket incorporates a self-extinguishing fabric technology that offers protection in heat and flash-fire incidents. The fabric increases thermal protective performance and reduces potential for burn injury. It provides increased thermal stability and maintains physical integrity in the event of exposure to heat and flames. Further, the jacket is waterproof/windproof/breathable due to its GORE-TEX® fabric construction, making it not only protective but comfortable to the wearer in extreme environments, as well.

The GORE® FR Lightweight Loft (LWL) Jacket, which features GORE® PYRAD® Fabric Technology, provides proven heat and flame protection against battlefield hazards without sacrificing protection from the elements, especially cold temps. It is also highly breathable, dries fast and packs quickly.

Gore’s next generation Extreme Weather Outer Layer (EWOL) jacket provides weather protection utilizing a waterproof, windproof, and breathable GORE-TEX® membrane combined with GORE® PYRAD® Fabric Technology. It is comfortable, provides antistatic protection, and offers penetration resistance against JP-8, DEET, petroleum, oils, and lubricants.

The Intermediate Weather Outer Layer (IWOL) jacket is constructed from a MASSIF® fabric featuring GORE® FR Stretch technology in a revolutionary nylon-faced, flame resistant, water resistant laminate. This extremely durable, highly breathable fabric offers a superior warmth-to-weight ratio. GORE® membrane technology provides weather protection from rain and wind. The result is a high quality, comfortable, softshell jacket with heat and flame protection.

GORE® PYRAD® Fabric Technology is an advanced laminate technology that offers an optimal combination of thermal / flashover burn protection, environmental protection, and comfort. This unique technology self-extinguishes flames so that the fabric does not continue to burn. Traditional non-FR textiles will continue to propagate flame, exhibit melting and dripping, and increase the potential of burn injury to the skin. GORE® PYRAD® Fabric Technology increases thermal protective performance and reduces potential for burn injury.

For more information on Gore’s line of FR garments, visit Gore at the 2014 AUSA Exposition in Washington, D.C., October 13-15, in Booth 2719.

Gore & Associates, Inc. is an extremely breathable, lighter weight fabric that provides durable waterproof and windproof protection with improved next-to-skin comfort. THE COMBAT WOODLAND JACKET, NOW AUTHORIZED TO WEAR BY THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS, PROVIDES INCREASED WEATHER PROTECTION IN HARSH WOODLAND ENVIRONMENTS

ELKTON, MD, SEPTEMBER 23, 2013 - - The Combat Woodland Jacket (CWJ), manufactured by Short Bark Industries and designed with fabrics made by Gore and Milliken, was recently authorized to wear by the United States Marine Corps. This comfortable, lightweight, and windproof soft shell jacket, currently being procured in a desert camouflage pattern, is designed to provide Marines with enhanced weather protection from the environmental challenges encountered in woodland operations.

Made in the USA, it is constructed of a water-resistant fabric designed with strategically placed stretch zones for enhanced flexibility and mobility. Different fabrics have been customized for use in each part of the jacket so that the wearer receives the highest level of protection and comfort throughout changing weather conditions.

Moisture-wicking linings and highly breathable fabrics reduce heat stress during the day and help maintain a steady core body temperature at night. Water-resistant relief zippers, fasteners, and adjustment hardware are made of non-corroding materials. All fabrics used in the jacket contain NIR suppressing technology to reduce the wearer's signature at night, and is durable for the life of the product.

“Marines that were issued the desert camouflage version of this jacket have personally experienced the comfort and weather protection it offers,” says Tim Quinn, Product Specialist at Gore. “The Combat Desert Jacket has received excellent reviews from Marines for providing an ideal combination of environmental protection and comfort. Providing this jacket in the woodland camouflage pattern was a natural evolution of product offering to help enhance the mission effectiveness of Marines.”

Gore plays a pivotal role in providing durably waterproof, windproof, and breathable GORE-TEX® products to the United States Marine Corp. They continue to support improving the mission effectiveness of warfighters through innovation with a broad range of fabric technologies that offer distinct capabilities in various weather conditions and mission sets.
